dc.description.abstract E-transaction applications have become indispensable in today’s competitive business environment, and are widely used in several areas such as commerce, education and manufacturing among others. They enhance ubiquitous access of goods and services in a short time and fast. Developing high quality e-business applications is the main goal software engineers who make use of a variety of clearly defined development models in solving clients’ demands. The choice of a software development model is dependent on its anatomy, challenges it poses and response to emerging technological advancements. The present study reports on an appraisal of software development approaches used in practice. The study investigates the issues faced in using the models, the various models structure and their suitability in coping with emerging technological trends. The study shows a discrepancy in existing software developing approaches appropriateness in adequately addressing the prevailing e-business environment specifications. A new software development approach is proposed, in this context, which is applicable to many e-business projects. en_US
