Abstract:
E-commerce has been a growing trend ever since the development of the World Wide Web in the early 1990’s. It has ever since seen the growth of the most lucrative companies today such as Amazon, Walmart, E-bay, Jumia among others. With the increase in international trade and technological improvements, E-commerce is one if not the biggest investments. Ecommerce was greatly revolutionized by the developments of social media, making it increasingly convenient for companies to interact with their consumers through these social media platforms.
In Kenya, the e-commerce culture is beginning to take shape and more and more people are resulting to online purchases. This has been enabled by the development of internet connectivity, the availability of computer hardware and also by and large; devolution and international trade. Operating in an online space exposes business to markets beyond their borders removing most if not all geographical limitations.
This has also been of greater importance due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Online stores have become a necessity for most businesses as public spaces have been closed down or are heavily regulated. There is also a valid fear of the risk involved in visiting public spaces, thus leading people to result to and appreciate online stores.
Swift Games KE has been operating purely using social media. This has proven to be inefficient at times where traffic has been high; monitoring 3 social media accounts for inquiries. This project attempts to deal with the inefficiencies we are currently facing by providing a platform where customers can purchase goods without necessarily having to chat with us.
